MTFA D+P’s Preservation department is built on a legacy of over 50 years of successful preservation projects. Our in-house team includes preservation architects, historians, preservation specialists, and conservators. We are experts in condition assessments, adaptive use, maintenance plans, and construction administration for occupied buildings — we have our own conservation laboratory in our Arlington office.
We are proud to have worked on many of the nation’s most significant buildings. For us, good preservation respects the past, sustainably designs the future, and enhances the significance of the historic resource. The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources.
